PRESENTATION OF" THE CIRCLE Alchemist, Paco Gomez

Last weekend, in an unusual time for a literary presentation as a Saturday afternoon, we went to the launch of "The alchemical circle," from writer Paco Gómez Escribano, in the now legendary Book Madrid Study in Scarlet. Fortunately we

few minutes before the start of the event and we brokered two of the last remaining seats are free. And I say this because in just five minutes after the arrival of the stars of the act to its special place in the premises, the charming library was overflowing with people. The many spectators who wanted to attend the presentation filled the basement of the library, overflowed the main floor of the same, the entrance and there were even people who had to remain outside without access to the site. Something I had never seen and I've been in a few shows in that library.

The event itself began when Ledoria editor, Jesus Muñoz, gave a brief introduction to the book of Paco, a work that under the suggestive title "The alchemical circle" dazzled this publisher based in Toledo, betting with a novel decision of undoubted quality starts in the mythical city of three cultures and hopes dazzled the public.

was then the turn of Virtues Reza, poet and friend of the author, who has been commissioned to prolong this work. Virt udes, visibly moved, praised the great writer's work, giving the chosen respectable loose bits and phrases of a work that has touched my soul. With the humor so characteristic of Cadiz was shelling the vicissitudes suffered by Paco to see her dream to publish his novels, and jokes and really told us the "hard" gastronomic sessions have been preparing for the presentation of the book.

then took the floor to the well-known writer Pedro de Paz, one of the most sought-after master of ceremonies for events of its kind in the capital for their tables and good work, apart from his undoubted literary quality as a writer. Uploading a powerful tone of voice for the public swirling in the house could hear better what was happening there, spoke of the pleasant surprise that he supposed to read the manuscript of Paco Gómez Escribano. A novel cataloged as esoteric thriller, highlighting the extensive work of documentation of the author to make us feel as their own adventures of the characters in different situations and places such as Toledo, Jerusalem and Cairo. Praised the depth of the plot and the adequacy of characters that fit like a glove to the story, with dialogue to help move fluid better in the reading of the work.

Then came the time to listen to the night's main protagonist. The author, who seemed to have left themselves around nerves release in the trunk of memories, first thanked the audience for giving him so wrapped up in a day as prescribed for him. Had also words of thanks to the editor for having bet on his work, which while not the first novel you write, whether it is the first to be published. And of course, said the luxury he meant being surrounded by good friends and great artists of the word as Virtues Reza and Pedro de Paz.

Paco told us some of the intricacies in the genesis of this novel. According to him, and having been written in a more or less prolonged period of time, we can distinguish different genres and styles in a work that is a melting pot of all: black genre, adventure and travel, historical and even philosophical. If the writer turns in his words text you would like to read on occasion, as he confessed, he was reflecting on his novel different stages who lived during the creation of "The alchemical circle."

A play that begins with the discovery of hidden frescoes in the Cathedral of Toledo, full of alchemical symbolism and to be restored gathers around an entire cast of diverse characters. Some of these players will see their lives change dramatically following the journey of initiation that take place across three continents, but others may continue to exist no more, this story affects everyone differently.

The writer told us his long efforts to document: History of Art, Alchemy, laws and ecclesiastical hierarchy, geography and history and many other issues that helped him to weave the story I wanted to tell. He recalled the long hours spent in the interior of the Cathedral of Toledo, both in research and documentation, such as walking and reflection. A building which he loves, as the power lost in the streets of the beautiful city of Toledo. Paco

assured us that the best moment was when he could finally have the book in her hands, her first book printed and ready to be read by the public. This fact already seen as something magical, and moments that could come later, as the presentation books to be sold, the support of readers and others regarded them as gifts added to it.

To complete the act was developed following a lively and fun conference where the audience asked the author what he wanted to know about the work, interspersed in between fun questions and jokes from the presenters of the act, delighting the staff with a nice bit of fellowship and good cheer while they talked of literature.

Then came the subsequent book signing by the author, while reassuring the audience that good wine and canapés and were waiting as the culmination of the act. Paco Gómez Clerk took a while to devote all copies, given the large number of books sold in its presentation, while the rest of us in lively discussions enfrascábamos enjoying the meal.

Finally, and how could it be otherwise, the staunchest left the library to continue talking about the divine and the human as we shared a few beers and tapas with the author, the writers had tucked in the act , family, friends and everyone who wanted to join. These talks are the best of these meetings and with whom we terminated a very interesting evening.
