- Maryland. Two million fish are found dead on the beaches of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Officials said this could be due to low water temperatures that reached historic records in December and overcrowding fish.
Italy - Faenza. Four hundred pigeons were found dead in the town of Faenza in Italy. According to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), this may be due to temporary contamination from a nearby factory, a disease of birds or poisoning.
